The Wireless Application Service Providers’ Association (WASPA), an independent self-regulatory body dedicated to safeguarding consumer interests alongside mobile application and service providers in South Africa, has announced the appointment of its new board for the upcoming year.
This announcement coincides with WASPA’s 20th anniversary, marking two decades of innovation and industry leadership.
Three new appointees
The 20th anniversary AGM elections brought notable changes, with three new appointments: Dylin Kuni as Treasurer, Markus Schorn heading the Fraud Working Group, and Tsepang Nenzinane overseeing the Code of Conduct. They join re-elected members Casper de Villiers, Rory Anderson, and Sean Nieuwoud (Vice Chairperson) to complete the WASPA Board for 2024–2026.
Well experienced in the industry
James McNab returns as Chairman of WASPA, having previously served in 2017 and 2023. With over 20 years in the telecoms sector, McNab specializes in Interactive Media and Micropayments, holding senior positions globally. A longstanding board member since 2013, McNab has managed various portfolios including Communications, Code of Conduct, Telco Affairs, and Vice Chair.
The new board comprises a diverse group of industry experts, each contributing extensive experience and a shared dedication to advancing the industry. They are poised to uphold the association’s tradition of fostering innovation, promoting best practices, and advocating for a vibrant, sustainable, and secure ecosystem.
Dynamic and influential
McNab says, “Over the past 20 years, WASPA has grown from a small group of individuals with big dreams for the industry into a dynamic and influential association that continues to shape the mobile and application landscape. As we enter our third decade, we remain committed to driving the industry forward and addressing the evolving needs of our members.”
